The Directory
The desire for his first directorial work led film composer Marcel Barsotti into his world of science fiction films after he received the David Award in 2023 for his utopian music video ‘The New Human’.
Multi-award winning composer Marcel Barsotti is an impressive and extraordinary talent, creating powerful individual film scores and electronic music that expand the possibilities of storytelling.
The composer is known for a wide genre of international projects, from the impressive, highly awarded international drama La Línea Imaginaria (2023) to the acclaimed Constantin productions The Popess (2009) and The Miracle of Bern (2003), the dystopian thriller Forgiveness (2022) to the Family Entertainment Warner productions Jesus Loves Me (2012), as well as the German film The New Human (2012).
In 2024, Marcel Barsotti made his debut as a film director with ‘Transformation’, a dystopian, elaborately AI-generated science fiction short film that deals with the question of whether life in the universe is peacefully possible.
Shortly after the film was completed, it was already in competition at several international festivals and has received six awards to date, including the Rome Independent Film Festival Award and the IPF Merit Award (Peace Prize) at the International Peace Festival in Toronto.
Barsotti wrote the screenplay and film music for his directorial debut and was responsible for sound design, editing, sound and dubbing.
